Design and Installation

Design and Installation

Our highly trained design and installation teams offer a high quality, friendly and efficient service. Our vast experience working in the education and public sector means we complete projects “Right First Time, On Time and with minimum disruptions.

Design Service

We offer a comprehensive free of charge design service, from initial consultation and site survey to determine customer requirements through to the supply of 3D design drawings using computer software to communicate the final design. During the initial consultation our CRB approved engineer will discuss your shade requirements, budget, time scales and all technical aspects in terms of our shade sail products, design options, installation process and planning.  The same engineer will then be your point of contact as your project manager from design through to completion.

As the primary function of our UV Shade Sail structures is to provide protection from harmful UV Rays, our designers utilise shade prediction software to ensure maximum protection is provided where it is most needed and importantly during high-risk times of 11am and 3pm. With a vast palette to hand in terms of sail fabric colours, Safety Padding and powder coated support post finishes, our designers can offer a bespoke aesthetic solution to suit all of our customers’ individual needs and beyond with our Custom Shade Sails

Above function and aesthetic considerations, safety is always paramount.  We lean heavily on our 30 years structural and civil engineering background to ensure appropriate factors of safety are employed at all times and during all processes.

Planning Permission

Full planning applications in general are not required.  However, we advise that all customers consult with their Local or County Council with regard for the need to apply for Planning Permission. For confirmation, we recommend you forward a copy of our design drawings to your relevant Planning Authority. Should a planning application be necessary, Safe Shade can provide you with this complete service, from supplying the relevant drawings and documentation required, through to liaising with your local authority on your behalf.  The cost of this service is dependant upon the level of support required; please do not hesitate to contact us to find out more.

Installation Service

Our site installation teams operate throughout the UK all year round, including weekends if necessary to minimise disruption.  All of our team members are CRB checked and approved and are highly trained in the use of plant and any equipment required during installation.

Installations will typically be completed within 5 to 6 weeks from receipt of order with works commencing on site 2 to 3 weeks from receipt of order. Site installation works will be completed in two phases. Phase one: civil installation, will take 1 to 2 days and approximately 2 weeks later, phase two: making good and sail installation, will take 1 day. During phase one we will need to completely cordon off the work area for safety and will require access for a waste skip and plant. Upon completion of this phase, the support posts will be made safe and the work area re-opened to reduce disruption. We will then need to cordon off the work area again for the final installation phase two. Upon completion of each installation phase, the work area will be left tidy with all waste being removed and of course, most importantly left safe! We are totally committed to ensuring our products are designed, manufactured and installed with the highest standards of safety in mind at all times. To ensure we deliver on this commitment, we operate an effective management system that serves to assure safe execution of our work activities by trained and competent personnel, thus protecting both our staff and the end customer throughout the life cycle of our products.
