National School Grounds Week

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Every year Learning Through Landscapes (LTL) arrange the
National School Grounds Week.  A week long event that focusses on different themes to encourage schools to make the most of their outdoor spaces for both learning and play.  This year the theme is ‘Exhibition Mission’.   The aim is to get as many UK schools as possible to turn their playgrounds into art galleries, showcasing their work and projects – we think it’s a great idea!  LTL are encouraging schools to open their ‘Grounds into Galleries’ to parents and the community.  To find out more about this event and the great work that LTL do please click here.

Outdoor Challenge 2010

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Congratulations to Clare Schmieder and her team at Old Town Children’s Centre in Poole, Dorset, who are the very worthy winners of Nursery World’s Outdoor Challenge 2010, run in association with Learning Through Landscapes.

Safe Shade are members of Learning Through Landscapes and were more than happy to provide the top prize for the Outdoor Challenge 2010! Clare’s in-depth entry impressed the judges so much with her plans to maximise the Old Town Children’s Centre’s outdoor area into ‘…an attractive & adventurous space…providing free-flow access for all children’.
The Safe Shade team are looking forward to heading down to Poole to meet Clare and discuss her many prizes!!!  Which include, a Safe Shade Shade Sail worth £6,ooo, Safe Shade graphics, Learning Through Landscapes site visit, a year’s subscription to Nursery World and Learning Through Landscapes Play Out Toolkit!!!

We’ll keep you posted on the progress of the project and look forward to installing the Shade Sails!
