UV Index – Be Safe in the Sun
07.06.2010 | Posted in News | Author: JayneIncreasingly announced in weather forecasts, the UV Index provides us with an indication of the day’s risk to UV Rays. The UV Index is based on the UV intensity expected when the sun is at its highest point, between 11am – 3pm.
Make sure you know you and your family’s skin types and keep an eye on the UV Index. That way you are prepared and can still enjoy yourself in the sun! Follow our sun safety tips - sun protection cream, hats, sunglasses and of course shade!
- Low risk – no protection is needed.
- Medium risk – take care around midday and do not spend too long in the sun unprotected.
- High risk – cover up and spend time in the shade between 11 and 3. Use least factor 15 sunscreen on exposed skin.
- Very high risk – be sure to cover up and in the shade between 11 and 3. And use at least factor 15 sunscreen.
